Happy New Year!

I hope everyone’s new year is off to a healthy and happy start. I don’t have much to report but I wanted to share the thank you cards we received for the different missions held by Granville UMC.

Christmas Dinner Blessing Outreach

On Friday, December 23rd, church members and additional volunteers prepared, assembled, and delivered Christmas Dinners and Gift cards as follows:

            *32 volunteers

            *363 meals delivered

*$3,400.00 in Giant Food Gift Cards distributed

            *Cash donations $4,940.00 received

            *Food donations valued at $715.00

*Deliveries were made to Granville, Brown, Derry Townships and Lewistown Borough

Thank you to all that supported this outreach in any way. With your help, and God’s blessing, this year’s event touched many lives.

Respectfully submitted by Mark and Teresa W.

Mark and Teresa shared a story with me about the Christmas Dinner Blessing Outreach Day, since I wasn’t able to help out. I won’t go into detail about the events that unfolded that day. I do however, want to especially thank Mark and Teresa Williams for making this event happen year after year and doing God’s work. You both are truly a blessing to Granville UMC and the lives you touch.

Giant Cards

For the year of 2022, we sold $14,400.00 in Giant Gift Cards. That total is down from 2021. Approximately one half of those cards went towards the Christmas Dinner Blessing Outreach.  Granville UMC made $720.00 from the Giant Gift Cards. The profit from Giant Cards is used for Mission Projects throughout the year with the largest being the Christmas Dinner Blessing Outreach.

If you want to help the church and you shop at Giant Food Stores (the cards can also be used for gas purchases), this is the easiest way to help. All you need to do is see Tim Collins on Sunday or give him a call. Please consider buying Giant Gift Cards on a regular basis.  Dollar amounts are $20.00, $50.00 and $100.00.

Mission Central

The HUB will be held on Saturday, Feb. 4 hosted by Rhodes Memorial UMC beginning at 10 A.M. Health care kits will be assembled. Items needed: individually wrapped toothbrushes, combs of various sizes and styles, wash clothes, hand towels, individual bars of soap, finger nail clippers. Place items in the black bin in the rear vestibule.

Dear Friends,

So very thoughtful for the special meal you prepared. We enjoyed and didn’t need to cook it, so generous of the church family to a very nice gift to the Elderly Folks.

The gift card was a nice gift for the residents, so unexpected. God’s Blessings to all. Thank you again.

Altar Flowers

For those of you who are not aware, Granville UMC has changed the policy on ordering altar flowers. Altar flowers will now be ordered and paid for by the individual who picks a specific day for altar flowers. Please call Lewistown Florist at 717-248-9683 or www.LewistownFlorist.com. You will need to let the secretary know who the flowers are for and who they are from or mark it on the flower chart in the side vestibule. You can notify the secretary at granvilleumc@susumc.org.

E-giving as it is called for electronic giving is now an available option for you to give to Granville United Methodist Church. Please go to our website granvilleumchurch.com. Then click on the GIVE tab at top of the page. It will take you to a page that will give you links to use a computer or mobile device to make your donation. That will take you to the electronic giving page where you first will create a profile and login. Then you can make a onetime gift or create a reoccurring gift of the same amount for the day and cycle you choose. You can use a checking account, saving account, or a credit / debit card. You can also help the church by clicking the buttons on the respective pages to add the cost of this service to your donation, especially if you use the credit / debit card.

Campbell Soup Labels

We are continuing to collect Campbell’s Company labels at the church to support the ministry of the Neighborhood Center in Harrisburg. This is a ministry that began by the United Methodist Women in 1910, continues as an outreach ministry in the inner city of Harrisburg of the United Methodist Church.

You may put your labels in our big Campbell’s bin that is near the parking lot entry way to the church.

The following are the brand labels that you can cut, collect and give. Place them in our big bin as you continue to collect!
