Attention all members over the age of 55: we are interested in setting up a driver safety course. We need to see how many people would be interested in taking the class and then possibly setting a time and date. This will involve an 8-hour class for new participants and a 4 hour “refresher” class for former participants who wish to keep their insurance discount. After taking the class you will get a 5% discount on your auto insurance bill. Some insurances will offer more than the required 5%. The discount is good for 3 years. The fee is $20 for AARP members and $25 for non-members. If you are interested or know someone who might be interested, please call Audrey Kinser. Once we get a count of those interested then we will proceed to set up a class.

Community Choir for Community Thanksgiving Service at Pine Glen Church of the Brethren. Ellen Miller and Beth Myers are working together to form a community choir for the service.  We are inviting singers from Wayne, Granville, McVeytown, Spring Run COB, Pine Glen, and McVeytown Presbyterian.  We are having rehearsals at McVeytown UMC on Wednesday, November 2nd, 9th and, if needed, Nov. 16th.  The music has been selected.  If anyone would like to participate please contact Beth Myers at 717-994-4535 or Ellen Miller at 717-437-0218.  If you leave a message, let us know what part you sing and if you would like a copy of the music before rehearsals start.  (Copies of music in the rear vestibule at Granville UM Church.)

Wednesday, November 2nd – Granville UM Women’s Group Meeting 7:00 p.m. (Shoeboxes are due!)

Saturday, November 5th – Mission Central HUB will be held at Yeagertown UMC 10:00 a.m. Health care kits will be assembled. Granville has volunteered to donate hand towels. Please place items in the black bin near the rear vestibule.

Sunday, November 6th – All Saints Sunday and Daylight Saving Time Ends

Wednesday, November 7th – Granville UM Women’s Group Meeting to prepare apple dumplings for shut-ins.

Tuesday, November 15th – Church Council Meeting at 7:00 p.m. (All Welcome)

Sunday, November 20th – Granville UM Women “That’s My Pan” orders are due to Deb K.

Sunday, November 20th – Community Thanksgiving Service – Pine Glen Church of the Brethren, 7:00 p.m.  

Sunday, November 27th – First Sunday of Advent and Hanging of the Greens

Thursday – Friday, December 1st and 2nd – Live Nativity

Wednesday, December 7th – Granville UM Women’s Group Meeting 7:00 p.m.

Tuesday, December 20th – Church Council Meeting at 7:00 p.m.

Confirmation Class: If you know of any student old enough for confirmation class, please contact Lori Aultz at laultz5@gmail.com.

Safe Sanctuary: All clearances pre-covid are out dated. We are working on updating our safe sanctuary files. If you are planning to work with children in the future, please see Lori Aultz for the forms.

Church Counters: We are looking for two people to act as counters after church on Sundays. You will count for one month at a time; usually for three months of the year. If you are interested and want more information please contact Mark Ellinger.

Altar Flowers: Anyone wishing to make a dedication is responsible for calling Lewistown Florist –717-248-9683 to order and pay for your flowers. The cost of altar flowers is $40.00. The flower chart is hanging in the vestibule for bulletin information, but information may be emailed to granvilleumc@susumc.org or dropped in the box outside the office for the secretary by Wednesday.

Reserving the Education Building/Social Hall: If you would like to reserve the Education Building or Church, please contact Lori Aultz at laultz5@gmail.com or granvilleumc@susumc.org.

The church website is updated and ready to keep everyone informed about the happenings at Granville UM Church.   If you do not already “follow” the church website, please go to granvilleumchurch.com and enter your email address towards the bottom of the page.  This will allow you to receive weekly announcements, special postings, pictures from church events, etc.
